Our Strengths
Developing a Diverse Portfolio of Forest Product Related Businesses
Marubeni is conducting various businesses related to the use of forest-derived materials ranging from forest plantation, manufacturing of pulp, and manufacturing and trading of paper products. Also, in the biomass fuel business which is expected to have increasing demand, Marubeni will further expand its supply sources. It aims to maximize the value of forest resources by pursuing economic value through the use of materials and environmental value with an eye toward emissions trading.
Forest management considerate of the environment and local communities
Marubeni has been conducting its forest plantation business since the 1990s. At present, we are operating two projects in Indonesia and Australia, with a total of approximately 120,000 hectares of tree plantable land (the total work area is approximately 300,000 hectares) and are also researching the utilization of forest resources in creating a future decarbonized society.
Domestic Containerboard Manufacturing Business & Overseas Expansion
We are promoting the development of containerboard businesses with integrated manufacturing and distribution; domestically, we manage and operate Koa Kogyo Co., Ltd. as well as Fukuyama Paper Co., Ltd., and overseas, we operate a paperboard manufacturing company in Vietnam. We will use our packaging business as a starting point to work toward the realization of circular economy businesses.
Global Expansion of Hygiene Products Business
In June 2020, we invested in Santher - Fábrica de Papel Santa Therezinha S.A., a Brazilian personal care paper products manufacturer, in order to provide high-quality products and services to people around the world and contribute to the realization of a hygienic environment and safe, comfortable living. In the future, we aim to expand our products business globally, focusing on Africa and other emerging regions.
