Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) hereby announces that the Kobe/Kansai Hydrogen Utilization Council (hereinafter, “Council”), in which Marubeni participates as a Lead, has prepared a report entitled “Kobe/Kansai Hydrogen Utilization Council Report -Organizing a Future Vision for a Hydrogen Society and Quantifying Supply and Demand-” (hereinafter, “Report”).

The Council has formulated a future vision for the Kobe/Kansai area, and estimated the potential hydrogen demand, supply volume and price based on this vision. The Council subsequently quantified the hydrogen supply chain around the year 2030, identified potential issues, formulated an action plan for realizing their vision and summarized the Report.

Following the participation in the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain pilot project between Australia and Japan in 2018, Marubeni joined the CO2-free Hydrogen Energy Supply-chain Technology Research Association (“HySTRA”), and in 2020 established the Council together with other companies that are also working on hydrogen utilization. Through study and discussion with other members of the Council, Marubeni will work in collaboration with related parties toward the social implementation of future hydrogen utilization, the establishment of a hydrogen supply chain, and realize an action plan for “Contributing to low-carbon/carbon-free goals through business activities”, a goal which was set forth in the "Marubeni Long-Term Vision for Climate Change" announced in March 2021.
