Marubeni is an investor in NRT Pty Ltd (hereinafter, “NRT”), which in December 2019 was awarded the Operations, Trains and Systems 2 Public Private Partnership (“PPP”) contract for Sydney Metro City & Southwest Project, the extension of the Metro North West Line (hereinafter, “MNW"), Australia’s first fully-automated rail system. Marubeni is pleased to announce the commencement of the Chatswood to Sydenham metro service, which connects the northwest to Sydenham via the central business district (hereinafter, the “Project”). Project Overview
Upon completion, the Project is intended to extend the MNW, which began operations in May 2019, and which has since transported over 84 million passengers, by approximately 30km, through Sydney's central business district to the southwest. This entire line is now known as the M1 Metro Northwest & Bankstown Line. With the commencement of operations in the City to Sydenham section of the line, the M1 Metro Northwest & Bankstown Line now serves 21 stations from Tallawong through to Sydenham Station. Trains run at four-minute intervals during peak hours.

Future Prospects
Since 2011, Marubeni has continued to develop its portfolio of PPP assets in Australia, which includes participation in Stages 1, 2, and 3 of a Light Rail PPP Project on the Gold Coast, Australia*. Growth in sustainable mass transit and urban rail projects is expected to continue in Australia, and Marubeni, as a trusted and long-term partner, will strive to expand the scope of its commitments to transportation and social infrastructure in Australia through the stable operation of ongoing projects and by exploring new business ventures.

Marubeni divested part of its shares in GoldlinQ, which operates Gold Coast Light Rail PPP Project, and NRT to MM Capital Infrastructure Fund I, L.P., a fund managed by Marubeni’s subsidiary, MM Capital Partners Co. Ltd.
