Marubeni Corporation and Marubeni Wireless Communications Inc. begin supply of “TRASCOPE”, a video monitoring system utilizing cloud computing
Oct. 18. 2016
Marubeni Corporation
Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”) and its fully-owned subsidiary, Marubeni Wireless Communications Inc. (“MWC”), began supply of “TRASCOPE” (“the Service”), a video monitoring system that utilizes cloud computing.
As high-resolution video monitoring systems suitable for video analysis generate a vast amount of data, the cost of leasing lines to support this data comes at a great cost. To minimize expenses, there is a tendency for users to reluctantly introduce low-resolution systems. In response, Marubeni and MWC are combining Marubeni’s cloud service “Cloudest” with MWC’s wireless communication service and OEM software from CREW SYSTEMS, INC. to provide a high-resolution video monitoring system at a low cost.
The Service introduces an interspersed cloud computing system. In this system, event-driven high-performance cameras working together with sensors and analysis software extract all the necessary data and transfer it to the cloud via wireless communication while storing irrelevant data in the camera’s storage. The system minimizes the cost of wireless communication and the cloud by sorting data, while guaranteeing that the data is safely transferred by its unique protocol and format. Users can easily monitor videos whenever and wherever they want because it works on multiple devices such as desktops, tablets and smartphones. Next spring, the Service aims to provide added value to users by launching AI cameras with artificial intelligence, which gives users the ability to manage parking lots by detecting each car’s number, manage attendance on construction sites by detecting each worker’s face, receive alerts by detecting the behavior of suspicious persons in shopping malls or at ATMs, etc.
MWC has been providing a wireless communication service of about 400,000 lines as wholesale MVNO and MVNE (*) to several distributors as of September, 2016. Over the next few years, MWC, utilizing Marubeni Group resources, will provide a one-stop service to customers ranging from wireless devices and lines to IoT solutions, including cloud and application development.
*MVNO is a wireless communications services provider that does not own the wireless network infrastructure over which the MVNO provides services to its customers.
MVNE is a company that provides network infrastructure and other related services, such as network subsystems, business support systems, provisioning, administration and operations support systems to mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).
